High, Dirty Water a Challenge

June 10, 2011 by wcobserver

Welcome to big fish country Northwest Arkansas. I am glad to see summertime roll around and all that it brings with it. Warmer outside temps, and some awesome fishing! As we go into early summer the fish here will go through some pattern changes, and really start to gang up as the month rolls along.

The bluegill spawn is happening in a big way. If you’re lucky enough to find clear water you can see the big beds. You can also keep your eyes peeled for wolf packs of big bass cruising around them.

Water around most areas is high and dirty. Spinner-baits have been producing well for most areas. We went to Prairie Grove lake last weekend and caught most on spinner-baits and Texas rigged dark plastic worms. Top water baits like Berkley frenzy poppers and buzz-baits have worked early and late in the day. We have also been hearing that Carolina rigged power-worms have caught a few on Beaver, along with flukes and senkos. We managed to catch a few crappie on a small swim-bait. Get out and find some water and fish it!
