Our 2011 Summer Reading Program will begin Monday, June 20, at 1 p.m. at the West Fork Library. Sherry Rodgers, children’s librarian from the Washington County Library System, will present exciting weekly programs for all children in grades K-4. There will be books, games, prizes and crafts at the weekly programs, as well as special events. For more information call 479-442-6253.
This year’s theme is One World, Many Stories. Marshall Mitchell will be at the library on Monday, June 27, for a special event in which kids can become a “Clean Water Ranger” and receive a free activity packet. Enjoy stories and songs about our rivers, lakes, and streams from Marshall’s new CD.
Another special event will take place on Monday, July 25, when Tommy Terrific will be a special guest with his magic show.
Registration is not required for the programs. Sherry is looking for volunteers who have lived or traveled outside the U.S. to share their experiences, stories, photos, souvenirs, clothing, etc. with the kids. She is especially interested in those who have lived or visited Africa, Australia or New Zealand, Central or South America, or the Far East. Please fill out a form at the library and we will send it to Sherry for inclusion in a program. The programs are made possible in part by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Arkansas State Library under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act.
