WEST FORK – The second meeting of the WestFest 2011 Committee on July 15 resulted in a firm date and various details for the annual event being established. The date was set for Saturday, Oct. 8. The theme this year will be “Where the Story Begins.”
Communication with the public will be improved this year by way of the social media site, Facebook. Go to “WestFest 2011” and click on “Like” to receive their news feed on your wall.
Several residents volunteered to head up specific functions; “Moe” Greenoe will oversee the bands; Joe Wingate will head up the children’s section in addition to food vending; Carol Martin will coordinate Arts and Crafts and Denise Elms will oversee promotions.
Designs for T-shirts were selected and the mayor will get quotes. Applications and space layout was discussed as well as the possibility of a city wide yard sale on Saturday only.
The committee wants to have at least three contests this year with prize money awarded to first place winners. Details were unavailable at press time but one of the contests involves ugly trucks.
