Fishing here in Northwest Arkansas has been good; the top-water has been on for the first few hours of the morning! The best bait has been a shad colored pop’r and a Zara Spook. The bass are running the shad to the top early in the morning. After about 10 the top-water slows down. I have been changing to a Carolina rig with a three quarter ounce weight with a 2 foot leader with 15 lb. line on a heavy rod. A watermelon seed super fluke and a watermelon seed centipede have worked best for me. There are still fish being caught in shallow water on wacky worms and Texas rigs, but the deep water pattern has been the most consistent for me right now.
Congratulations to Scott Martin of Florida at last weekend’s FLW cup tournament in Hot Springs Arkansas at Lake Ouachita. With over $600,000 in winnings and a bag of 61 lbs. 1 ounce in the four day tournament.
