Starting Out

January 30, 2012 by Annie McCormick

Blogging is something new to me.  I don’t usually resist learning new technology, but this is something I never thought I’d use.  Thanks WCO for the opportunity to venture another step into the 21st century.

Lately, I’ve been watching Winslow grow and getting involved in a bunch of activities.  I’m involved with the 2nd annual Winslow Run and the Winslow Historical Preservation Group.  I’m real excited about both endeavors.

It’s hard to believe all that our little hamlet has to offer.  There’s never a reason to say “I’m bored” when living here.  I know that there’s not much in the way of employment, but the groups, organizations and opportunities to volunteer and learn new things are numerous.  There’s always something to do.

Volunteering is invaluable to our town.  Winslow Community Meals has one paid employee but is supported by volunteers.  The Board of Directors and kitchen helpers are making it thrive by donating their time and energy.

If you’re feeling “bored” just look at the “Within Winslow” or the Observer for ideas, or ask your neighbor.  Keep Winslow thriving!

The greatest achievement is selflessness.”  Atisha
