​Jessie Mae Hunton, Prairie Grove

Jessie Mae Hunton, 89, a resident of Prairie Grove, died Tuesday, Jan. 10. She was born Oct. 5, 1922, to the late Lonnie and Alma Smith Dickenson and was raised in the Johnson Community near Shawnee, OK.

During WWII, Jessie worked as a welder in the shipyards in Richmond, California building Liberty ships when she met her husband, Floyd. After moving to Prairie Grove in 1945 the couple became successful poultry and cattle farmers. Jessie loved her work and always said that her vacation was her work. She was interested in politics and was a life-long Democrat. She and her husband were also members of the Primitive Baptist Church.

Jessie is survived by three children, daughter and son-in-law Janie and Dwayne Webb of Dutch Mills; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Karen Hunton of Prairie Grove; and daughter and son-in-law Judy and Ron Moore of Prairie Grove. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors of Jessie include three sisters, Myrtle Hood of Shawnee, OK, Frankie Bland of Shawnee, OK, and Alene Vasquez of Sand Springs, OK.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hunton. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Maurine Hale, Lena Washington, Ruth Goodnight, and Bessie Melton; two brothers, Lonnie Gene Dickenson and Vernon Dickenson.

The funeral was held at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Friday, Jan. 13.


Florene Phillips, Prairie Grove

Florene Phillips, 88, a resident of Prairie Grove, passed away Jan. 8, 2012, in Fayetteville.  She was born July 14, 1923 in Prairie Grove, the daughter of Ollie Jackson and Lillie Belle Patterson Bradley.

Florene was baptized along with her husband at Fall Creek Church by L.V. Vickery. She worked for many years at Kelly Canning Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larence Phillips, one son, Thurman Phillips, one nephew Marty Phillips, one daughter in law, Marjean Phillips.

Survivors include four sons, Larence Onnie Phillips, Jack Lee Phillips, Daniel Keith Phillips all of Prairie Grove, and Mart Shannon Phillips of Dallas, Texas; eight daughters, Rosalee Rouse of Fayetteville, Evalena Nall of Siloam Springs, Norma Rita Sherry and Ima Dean Jones both of West Fork, Shirlene Virginia Logsdon and Colleen Carrol Campbell, Edna Bernice Headrick all of Prairie Grove, and Teresa Diane Reynolds of Eufaula, Okla.; one sister, Marie Anthony of California; 46 grandchildren, 117 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren and her special friend, Jack Eddy.​

Funeral Service was held Wednesday, Jan. 11, at New Sulphur Freewill Baptist Church in Prairie Grove.

​Craig Thomas, West Fork

Craig Thomas, 42 of West Fork died Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1969 in Tinker AFB, Oklahoma the  loving son of David and Arloa Thomas. He worked at Superior Industries in Fayetteville, and loved Nascar racing and fishing.     
Survivors include his Fiancé, Darcel Ferguson of the home; father, David Thomas and wife Linda of Fairborn, OH; mother, Arloa Thomas of Lake Lure, NC; brother, Clint Thomas of Columbus, OH; and many other family members and friends

Faye Maureen Doege, Prairie Grove

Faye Maureen Doege, age 77, a resident of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012 in Fayetteville.

​Faye was born in Prairie Grove on Nov. 21, 1934, to Tom and Mildred (Cannon) Lavender. Faye was a member of the Poet’s Round Table​ of Arkansas and she enjoyed writing poetry and prose, bowling, and she loved her cat Freckles.

Preceded in death by her parents, Faye is survived by one son, Eric Doege and wife Kathy Poore of Fayetteville; two brothers, Jerry Lavender and wife Sally of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Bill Lavender and wife Nancy of New Orleans, La.; three grandchildren, Sarah Doege of Madison, Wisconsin; Jana Doege of Pittsburg, Penn.; Karl Doege of Denver, Colo.; former spouse, Hans K. Doege of Priarie Grove; ​numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Graveside Inurnment services were held on Friday, Jan. 13 at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Sheridan Allen “Chipper” Bowling, Prairie Grove

Sheridan Allen “Chipper” Bowling, 53, a resident of Prairie Grove, passed away January 20, 2012 in Prairie Grove.  He was born February 19, 1958 in Prairie Grove, the son of Garlen Austin and Anna Jo Seeley Bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Will Boyd.

Survivors include one son, Todd Bowling and wife, Delena of Pea Ridge; two daughters, Janie Smith and husband, Jason of Prairie Grove, Hazel Boyd and husband, Kenneth of Fayetteville; one brother, Robert Bowling of West Fork; two sisters, Seeley Adams of Springdale, and Vicki Harvey of Arkansas City, Kansas; and five grandchildren.

​Funeral Service was held Monday, Jan. 23 at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove.

Bruce Wayne Raymo, West Fork

Bruce Wayne Raymo, 57, of West Fork, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Fayetteville.

He was born June 25, 1954 in Jamesport, Missouri, the son of Leonard Reuben and Goldie Johnson Raymo. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Boyd and two brothers, Roland Dale Raymo and Ronald Raymo.

He was an automobile mechanic and he loved his grandkids and horses.

He is survived by a daughter, Sherry Frederick of Elkins; a son, Skipp Jones of Grove, OK; three sisters, Marion Flinn of St. Charles, MO, Freida May Raymo of Clearwater, FL and Janice Rogers of Florida; six brothers, Larry Raymo of Jamesport, MO, Billy Raymo of Chillicothe, MO, Lester Paul Raymo of Warsaw, MO, Marvin Raymo of West Fork, AR, Rex Raymo of West Fork, AR and Leonard Raymo of Maryland; six grandchildren, Whitley Frederick, LaCole Frederick, Kadence Frederick, Ty Frederick, Mrinda Jones and Kayla Jones.

Funeral service was held on Jan. 19  at Moore’s Chapel.


Marie Alice Lubold, Winslow

​Marie Alice Lubold, 70 of Winslow died January 16, 2012 at Circle of Life Hospice. She was born June 12, 1941 in Millington, TN.
She is survived by son; John Hagy of Winslow, three daughters; Irene Vaughn of Springdale, Debbie Hinkle of Winslow and Stacey Shannon of Harrisburg, PA Eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale​​​
