MILITARY OFFICERS MEET The Northwest Arkansas Military Officers Group, an affiliate of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) will hold its bi-monthly dinner meeting at the Fayetteville Clarion Inn on Friday, April 20, 2011 at 6:30 P.M.  Our guest speaker is Mike Roberts from the University of Arkansas whose topic, “India, Business Perspectives” provides insight on his recent visit to India.  All former, current or retired officers of all military services are invited to attend.  Please call CDR Sam Sansom, USN-Ret. at 761-3772 for additional details.

BIG DAY IN WINSLOW Winslow Farmers Market Begins April 7. Open Saturdays til noon down town at the train depot. ALSO Friends of the Library Bake Sale is the 1st Saturday of every month City Hall and it is Recycling Day.

HISTORY TALK Join Susan Young from the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History on Saturday, April 7th to get a historic peek into rural life in the Ozarks. Plowing with mules, butchering hogs, quilting, attending one-room schools, and river baptisms are just a few of the topics she’ll cover. This free event begins at 11 a.m. and will be held at the West Fork Public Library.  For more information, call 839-2626.

EARLY GARDEN TIPS Get tips for a successful Ozark spring garden on Saturday, April 14th at the West Fork Public Library. James Maginot, owner of Beyond Organics, will talk about early season starters and give tips on planning your garden, seed selection, and early pest control to maximize vegetable production.  This free event begins at 11 a.m. and is the fourth of the library’s “Six Saturdays of Spring Training” speaker series.  For more information, call 839-2626.

FISH FRY April 21, Saturday, 5 p.m. New Sulphur Fish Fry as we kickoff our revival services; Revival will be Sunday-Wednesday with Rev. Randall Wright; Sunday service will be at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Monday-Wednesday night services will start at 7 p.m. located at 13425 Hogeye Rd. Prairie Grove.

SUNRISE SERVICE at New Sulphur Church. Easter resurrection celebration on Sunday, April 8; Sunrise celebration service at 7 a.m.; Breakfast at church at 8 a.m.; Easter choir cantata at 9:45 a.m.; Easter worship celebration service at 11 a.m.

MUSIC AND FOOD BENEFIT April 14, Saturday Benefit for Brian Stephenson from 5-7 p.m.–we will have music and food. A pie, baked goods, and quilts auction will start at 7 p.m. Food will be stew or chili; adult plate will be $8 and kids plate, $5. Damon Meadors will be handling music — Brian fell and broke his back & is recovering from paralysis.

PLANT TREES, SAVE STREAMS Volunteers are needed for Spring Planting at the White River Streambank Stabilization Project, which will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, off Wyman Road in Fayetteville. Volunteers will plant native trees and shrubs to enhance the new project.
