At their monthly meeting on November 12, the Board of Directors of The Winslow Community Development Council met to review their final report on revenue and expenses from the Second Annual Winslow Half Marathon and 5K Race. This year’s run was held in conjunction with the 30th Annual Winfest Community Music Festival and a well received Community Expo at the finish line in Peak’s Park. Proceeds were earmarked for various non profit organizations benefiting the local community.. Over three hundred runners participated in this year’s race which was by all accounts an unqualified success. The WCDC and numerous local businesses sponsored the event.

After discussion by the board and with input from race volunteers, income from the race was allocated after a unanimous vote. Winslow Community Meals received the largest share at $2,700.00. Ozark Folkways Heritage Center received $1,000 and The Boston Mountain Fire Department, Friends of the Library and The Winslow Museum each received checks for $500.00. The Winslow Emergency Relief Fund was given $696.00 and the Winslow 4H Club $200.00 . An itemized listing of race expenditures and revenue will be posted at the race’s website

Plans are already underway for next year’s race and the council and race organizers hope to build on the success of this year’s event.
