  1. Proposal for New West Fork Library

    This proposal was presented to the West Fork Friends of the Library at their regular meeting March18, 2013. Proposal for a New Library Without Significant Cost to Taxpayers   March, 2013 The Need: The West Fork Municipal library has outgrown its current space; the area that was once dedicated to children for story hour and children programs, reading, and children’s computers has been significantly reduced.  Even seating for leisurely reading has been removed.  A sagging foundation has required multiple repairs and the book stacks to be moved to the newer addition to prevent the threat of collapse.

  2. Facebook Fury Fuels Fright

    Ouch.  Faulty fact checking on our part seems to have ignited a firestorm of wrath aimed at the Observer from facebookers. We posted a humorous editorial; (“Honey, Call Our Broker”) one that mentioned “humorous fabrication” and included a reprint of an article from a past April Fool edition (“West Fork Vote Dissolves City”).  The source of the intended fun was a bogus letter about am offer to buy West Fork’s city hall.

    A document appeared in the Council Packet for the March meeting that ignited our already volatile imagination.  The form business letter from “Wall Street International” was sent in error according to the person we spoke with at the number provided.  No mention of the letter was made in the Agenda so we wonder why it was cluttering up the packet, in the first place. The letter opened with “Dear Butch, I have tried twice to reach you in reference to …” Right away one knew this guy didn’t know much about West Fork or he would have known how to reach Butch; try Jakes.  The brief letter continued, “…in reference to an
