Take what you want from the article. Have fun.] -By Steve “Half Truth” Winkler- Word on the street reached facebook comments on Nov. 14 with questions about Parks Director Dave Roebke; “Why is he such a target?” The room was full at the Saturday morning meeting.  The gathered sport enthusiasts looked like a meeting of the town’s heavy hitters (pun intended). There were coaches, parents, the new mayor, Charlie Rossetti, a sheriff’s deputy, former mayor (prior to  Frances Hime) Jan Throgmorton, current council member Julie Shafer, former council members, along with spouses, ex-spouses, cousins, in-laws, and friends of the heavy hitters.

    MINUTES Regular Council Meeting November 12, 2013   INVOCATION was given by Reverend Helms with the White River Pentecostal Church, West Fork, followed by the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.   CONVENED at 6:30 PM MEMBERS PRESENT: Charlie Rossetti (acting as Pro Tempore), Ed Stout, Mike Nelson, Julie Shafer, Anita Lowry, Bill Sergeant, Shane Donahue, City Attorney Tom Kieklak, City Clerk Marsha Hungate MEMBERS ABSENT: Sarah Setzer, Mayor Frances Hime   Charlie Rossetti announced that the City has received a letter of resignation from Mayor Frances Hime, and asked for a motion to amend the Agenda to take into consideration the letter of resignation of Mayor Hime. MOTION made by Shafer to amend the Agenda to take into consideration the resignation of Mayor Frances Hime. 2nd by Stout MOTION CARRIED   Charlie Rossetti then read the letter of resignation   MOTION made by Shafer to accept the resignation of Mayor Frances Hime. 2nd by Sergeant ROLL CALL VOTE: Donahue – YES Setzer – ABSENT Rossetti – YES Stout – YES Shafer – YES Lowry – YES Sergeant – YES Nelson – YES MOTION CARRIED   MOTION made by Shafer to send Mayor Hime a letter of appreciation from the Council. 2nd by …

    Winslow Half Marathon and 5k Run makes about $5,000 Benefiting Local Non Profits in Winslow  -By John Ford- WINSLOW – Numerous community organizations received an early Christmas gift this year, thanks to the revenue generated by the successful  third annualWinslow Half-Marathon and 5K Race. The Board of Directors of the Winslow Community Development Council met on November 12th to review their final report on revenue and expenses from the September event. The race cost roughly $8,000 to stage while realizing over $12,000  from registration fees and sponsorships, according to race Director Daniel Dean and WCDC Treasurer Mary Anderson, who presented the board with a final accounting of race expenditures and revenue.
