    The West Fork (pop. 2,402) City Council at their April meeting voted to spend $12,700 to repair the roof on the Library. Last month Lincoln, Arkansas (Pop. 2,322) had the grand opening for their new library. From NWA Online, 3/16/2014: LINCOLN, AR– The new Lincoln Public Library opened on Sunday. Library Director, Dianna Payne said a couple years ago, voters approved a sales tax to fund the project. She said the building is much larger than the old library, and includes the latest technology. They hope to attract university instructors and clubs to use the new space. Payne said, “With everything like the brand new computers and we have ancestry.com for free 24/7 so we’re expecting for lots of people to come and check us out and then become part of us.” She said with the new library, they can serve the community and help anyone who walks through the library doors to be successful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QdnNaRrDUI The photos below are from the Washington County Observer.

It was also  sent to the local newspaper and social media sites.] April 18, 2014 Waste Water Treatment Plant and Pipeline to Fayetteville Treatment Facilities On April 11 I received a phone call from Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).  This phone call was a verbal issuance of an Emergency Order of the Director to cease all unpermitted discharges into the West Fork of the White River.  Butch Bartholomew and Robert White, the engineer from McClelland Engineering, presented two solutions to ADEQ to solve the problem.  One was to control the flow

  5. Freeman Hosts Benefit Fair

    -By Michele Winkler- About fifteen vendors and crafters joined together in raising money for the American Cancer Society today at the West Fork Community Center.  Among the participants, there were at least two locals.  Carol Harris supported this event because of her personal experience with her husband.  She has made handy aprons with pockets that can also be buttoned to make a bonnet. At her booth there was also peach jelly from her daughter who lives in Springdale.

    -By Steve Winkler- Teeth chattered and hearts pounded for the fifty-two registered Polar Plungers who took a dip in the West Fork of the White River Saturday, March 22 to raise money for the Special Olympics. One of the largest crowds seen in Riverside Park lined the shore to cheer the photograph the Plungers. The charity event, sponsored by the West Fork Police Department, caught the attention of the community quickly. The total raised was $4,902. “We’re really proud of the way the community got behind this event,” said West Fork Police Chief John Collins

    Page 1 of 6 MINUTES Regular Council Meeting March 11th, 2014 The Council meeting was held at the West Fork Fire Department in its Training Room. Prior to the Regular Council meeting, the Fire Department opened it’s doors for an open house to the public. Tours were given of the facility, and everyone was given an opportunity to ask questions. Presentations were given by Fire Personnel of all equipment available and the building itself. INVOCATION was given by Jan Throgmorton PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was led by the 3rd and 4th Grade winners of the Recycle Bowl Competition, students led by Natalie Henderson from the West Fork Elementary School.   Meeting CONVENED at 6:32 PM
