    I’d like to say that I didn’t participate in the craziness of Black Friday, that I wasn’t really trolling the aisles of Wal-Mart on Thanksgiving night, looking for a deal. I’d like to say that, but — with my luck — I was seen diving into a rack of hard-to-find PS3 games, and I’d be caught lying in print faster than Oprah could say James Frey. So I admit it. I went Black Friday shopping, right alongside the hordes of bargain hunters and raving lunatics you might have seen on tv, and the truth is, I liked it.

  2. Aging Gracefully is a Myth

    By Alison Grisham I finally went to get my new eyeglasses yesterday.  For over a year I’ve been getting by with some cheap, off-the-rack readers.  But I’ve gotten to that stage in my life where I need one prescription for actual reading and another one just to help me walk around… that is if I want to quit apologizing to inanimate objects for bumping into them.  Of course I also carry pairs in my purse and keep extras for back-up since I lose the originals with surprising regularity.  By the sheer number of eyeglasses I have lying around, you’d think Foster Grant was living with me.

There are those little moments… those split seconds… that allow the faint whispers from the back of your mind to creep forward and say, “hmmm… how obscenely rich would I have been if I’d never had kids?”
