By Michele Allen Winkler The hard work and passion of local craftsman, designer and businessman J.D. Gass has brought a bright spot to downtown West Fork. On April 5, 2013 J.D. Antiques had its grand opening at the old hardware store on Main Street. Among the museum quality treasures found here are a very unique safe found in Philadelphia and restored by J.D., beautiful chairs complete with attractive upholstery, rugs, dishes and paintings. J.D. moved here 14 years ago, and for some time used the building to store items that he sold wholesale and at auctions. Many people asked about buying some pieces directly from him, so about 2 months ago he decided to open this retail store. The array of beautifully restored furniture didn’t come without considerable effort. While laughing and saying, “I did it all on my own,” he also nodded to his three children Gabriel, Morgan and Payton acknowledging that they also helped to make the day a reality. His wife Ciara, and friend and fellow restorer Josh were there to round out this hard working group.Read More...
