    Do you hear that? That’s the sound of silence, the sound of a genuine Arkansas fall with crisp mornings and chilly nights. It almost seems strange and foreign after four days of bikers roaring up and down the road. If you didn’t go down to the growling belly of the beast, don’t worry. Apart from the greasy food, rambunctious participants, streets filled with stuff to buy and enough beer to sink the Titanic, there wasn’t a whole lot of surprises.

    West Fork’s nine-member WestFest committee did more than give the town a successful festival. Even before the event ended, the committee was looking forward to the 2012 celebration. We hope the work by this group of dedicated and engaged citizens will serve as an example of foresight for other governmental bodies in West Fork.

    ​By Alison Grisham When I read Charlottes’s Web, I thought the County Fair sounded like the most magical place on Earth. With E.B. White’s palpable description, I could almost smell the carnival foods and hear the marching band, complete with tuba and cymbals. I imagined Fern walking past giant prized pumpkins and riding and an old-fashioned Ferris wheel, where she could swing her feet and see for miles.

  5. Date Set for WestFest

    The second meeting of the WestFest 2011 Committee on July 15 resulted in a firm date and various details for the annual event being established. The date was set for Saturday, Oct. 8. The theme this year will be “Where the Story Begins.”
